POS (Point of Sale)
Modern point-of-sale systems that keep your business selling.
Point-of-sale systems that handle sales, payments and inventory smoothly — at the counter and on the go.
Under the hood
A real-time view of how this is engineered, run and kept honest in production.
Implementation stack
POS terminals and peripherals (till, printer, scanner, drawers)
Offline-first local transaction database on each terminal
Edge sync engine with queueing and conflict resolution
Cloud back-office pipeline for accounting and inventory
Payment terminal integration for card and digital wallets
Receipt and taxation engine with correct itemized output
Central reporting warehouse across all registers
Live handling loop
Sell
A sale is recorded instantly on the local terminal database.
Queue
Offline transactions queue locally and survive power loss.
Sync
On reconnect, transactions push in order to the back office.
Reconcile
Payments, returns and stock lots are matched per register.
Update
Inventory reconciles across stores and channels in real time.
Report
Sales, margins and busy periods are visible centrally.
Production integrity
Offline-first: an internet outage never stops a sale.
Ordered, idempotent sync so duplicates are impossible.
Register reconciliation with clear variance flags per device.
Hardware heartbeat monitoring to catch failing printers/scanners early.
Real-world use
A representative deployment of this service in practice.
Who it was built for
A café group selling from multiple outlets with patchy branch Wi-Fi (anonymised).
The problem
Sales could not be taken when the router dropped; end-of-day cash-ups took hours across sites, and head office had no live view of stock or takings between locations.
The deployment
CoveScreen deployed offline-first POS on each register, connected the existing card terminals, and stood up a cloud back-office pipeline that reconciles every transaction centrally.
The mechanism
Each sale writes to the terminal's local database first and queues for sync; on reconnect, ordered sync pushes transactions to the back office where reconciliation and inventory updates happen exactly once per transaction.
Operational insight
Benchmark targets this is engineered to hold. Stats are framed as targets and SLAs — not fabricated outcomes.
- Offline
- Continuous selling during internet outages
- < 30 s
- Transaction sync target on reconnect
- 100%
- Per-register cash and payment reconciliation
