Geographic Data Visualizer
Visualize geographic data on interactive maps with CoveScreen. Import CSV files, plot coordinates, create heatmaps, filter locations, and analyze geographic datasets.
Plot locations on an interactive map, import CSV datasets, build heatmaps and cluster visualizations, filter by category and value, and analyze geographic patterns with CoveScreen. Runs entirely in your browser.

What is a geographic data visualizer?
A geographic data visualizer turns location records into insight: where assets sit, how concentrated activity is, which regions contribute the most value, and how far apart two points really are. CoveScreen plots your coordinates on an interactive map with markers, clustering and heatmaps, then keeps analytics, filters and exports in sync with the data.
How to use the Geographic Data Visualizer
- Open the tool and load the sample dataset to explore markers, clustering, heatmaps and analytics, or start from your own saved locations.
- Add locations manually with a name, latitude, longitude, category and optional value, or import a CSV dataset with mapped columns.
- Switch the map between markers, clusters and heatmap visualizations and adjust the category or value filters.
- Click a marker to review its details, then edit or delete it from the details panel or the locations table.
- Run analytics for totals, bounding boxes and category breakdowns, and calculate straight-line distances between locations.
- Export the locations you want as CSV, or clear all data with the confirmation prompt.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Geographic Data Visualizer free?
Yes. The Geographic Data Visualizer is free to use, with no account, no upload and no payment required.
Does the map use a paid or API-keyed service?
No. The map renders OpenStreetMap raster tiles, which are free for development and low-traffic public use under their usage policy. The tool itself never requires an API key.
Is my geographic data uploaded anywhere?
No. Coordinates and location records are processed locally in the browser and stored in browser local storage. Nothing is uploaded to CoveScreen or to any third-party service.
How does the heatmap turn values into intensity?
Each location contributes its numeric value as a weight, defaulting to 1 when no value is recorded, and nearby locations are aggregated into a weighted grid. The legend explains the intensity scale.
Is the distance calculated road distance?
No. Distances use the Haversine great-circle formula, so they are straight-line distances. Road or travel distances are not calculated.
Can I import a CSV dataset?
Yes. Upload or paste CSV content with common column aliases such as latitude/lat, longitude/lng/lon, name/location, category/type and value/count, preview invalid rows, then confirm the import.
Can I export the locations?
Yes. Export all locations or the currently filtered set as CSV with valid escaping, and clear saved data with a confirmation prompt.
